Outline

To build upon our original goal of reducing cultural and experiential barriers in dim sum dining for non-Chinese guests, our second phase focuses on long-term customer engagement and deepening cultural interaction.

We introduced a new dim sum masterclass where users who reach certain loyalty milestones can invite a friend to participate in a hands-on session guided by a professional dim sum chef. Held in-store at our restaurant, this experience blends tactile interaction, storytelling, and heritage transmission.

Story

Dian Sum More began with an ambitious goal: to bridge the cultural gap in dim sum dining by combining traditional Cantonese tea house culture with modern technology.

This semester, we focused on building long-term engagement by designing culturally rich experiences that spark curiosity and increase user retention.

Guided by Nir Eyal’s HOOKED framework, we introduced a Loyalty App with gamified rewards, encouraging repeat visits through points, free meals, and immersive workshops. We also added a Tea Selection Interface to enrich the pre-meal ritual with cultural storytelling.

To validate our ideas, we conducted in-restaurant testing and filmed a short video to capture real user interactions and emotional moments. These updates, along with a refined brand identity, transformed our concept into an engaging, memorable journey that invites guests to return.
