Story

Noknok started with a simple but familiar question: why does living with others often become a source of stress and unspoken tension?

The issue isn’t a lack of care, but a lack of clarity. Unclear expectations, forgotten chores, and awkward conversations about money slowly turn shared spaces into uncomfortable ones. Noknok was created to resolve these everyday frictions before they grow into conflict.

At the heart of Noknok is Dusty, a shared-living assistant designed to guide roommates through communication, coordination, and accountability. From the very beginning, Through a private chat during onboarding, Dusty helps roommates align on tasks, schedules, and expectations in a frictionless, judgment-free way.

The name Noknok reflects our belief that shared living should feel approachable and human. Like a gentle knock on the door, Noknok doesn’t interrupt but it invites. It encourages transparency without pressure and structure without rigidity.

To support fairness and motivation, Noknok introduces Sparkles, a playful point system that rewards contribution and responsibility. As roommates complete tasks, their efforts are made visible and acknowledged. At the end of the month, Sparkles influence how shared expenses are divided; the more you contribute, the less you pay. This transforms accountability from a source of resentment into a shared incentive.

Noknok is more than a task manager or a bill-splitting tool. It is a system designed to protect harmony in shared spaces. By combining empathy, structure, and lighthearted incentives, Noknok helps roommates build trust, reduce conflict, and create a home that feels fair, supportive, and easy to live in.
